First Aid at Work

It is a requirement of Health & Safety law that employers should ensure the health and safety and welfare of their employees and the public. Employers must also provide adequate personnel, training and equipment to render first aid to their employees.

All successful students will be issued with a new First Aid at Work Certificate which lasts for a period of 3 years, along with a wallet-sized plastic card detailing their qualifications

Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work as an accredited qualification. The course will familiarise students with the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency First Aider, including assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, and assisting a casualty who is suffering from injury and illness. Students will learn and be assessed on their practical ability to deal with casualties who have stopped breathing, are unconscious, are bleeding and suffering from shock. 

The minimum contact time for the course is 6 hours. This can be split over a maximum of 4 weeks, with sessions lasting no less than 2 hours. Candidates are assessed by ongoing practical assessment by the Tutor throughout the course. All successful students will be issued with an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate which lasts for a period of 3 years, along with a wallet-sized plastic card detailing their qualifications.

This qualification provides learners with skills to further their First Aid training. It is recommended as training for first aiders in the workplace environment who have access to a defibrillator.

Learners gaining this qualification will know that Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillation form an essential part of the chain of survival.

The topics covered are regarded by Skills for Health as being important to maintaining good practice in the safe, prompt and effective administration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation.
